Different Perspectives Of The Issues Of Disability

Author’s Message This chapter explained the different perspectives of the issues of disability, how people without disabilities view people with disability and how people with disabilities are impacted medically, socially and economically. The medical model views disability as an abnormality or deficit that requires professional management. Within this model, disability was considered a personal impairment and the solution was to fix the disabled person. The economic model views disabled persons as unable to be self-sufficient and productive; requires economic and social support. The last model is a societal perspective that views people with a disability negatively and in many different images such as malevolent deviant and victims of a personal tragedy. The goal of disabilities studies is to change the way society views disability and correct the assumptions about people with disabilities. Disabilities study also sort to change the notion of disability being only an internal problem within the i ndividual to looking at the issues from a environmental barrier perspective, and to make the issue of disability a civil rights issue. Application I have an extensive experience working with people with both physical and mental disabilities and after reading this chapter, I found myself agreeing and disagreeing with some of the affirmations described by the author in relation to people with disability. Many times people who feel a different way than ov Essay Example For Students

Many times people who feel a different way than ov Essay erruling powers do not take a stand to how they feel and they cower down. In the cases where people due fight back for their cause good things will prosper from it. Even if you do not want to be taking part in war or any other activity that does not please you, sometimes people have to go against themselves for something they know is right. In the play A Man for All Seasons by Roger Bolt and the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque Thomas More will not abide by the kings rules, and keeps his own beliefs despite the pressure being put on him, and Paul Baummer hates every minute of war, but he knows he is serving the right purpose and continues to battle. When you that the person ruling over you is wrong and you stand up for what is right in your heart, you will face severe punishments but will have portrayed your point with power. Thomas More had an incredible amount of will power to stay strong and not give in to beliefs he did not believe in. As bad as it would get to seem from his perspective, More would not give up his morals, and he would rather be killed than be forced to believe in something he does not feel is right in his heart. I am faint when I think of the worst that they may do to me. But worse then that would be to go with you not understanding why I go (144) After all the threats had been made to More about the death penalty it would bring his spirits down and make him sad. As sad as it made him he would not give in. On the other side we had Paul who faced a similar situation. The more he got in to the war the sadder is made him. He had to keep shoving on and keep working though. At times he did not want to do anything but he forced himself to stay confident as hard as it was. I am young, I am twenty years old; yet I now nothing of life but despair, death, fear, and fatuous superficiality cast over an abyss of sorrow.(263) Paul has no end to his sorrow he it is this sad. His feelings of emptiness run on forever and he has no warmth or good feelings inside him. Yet he somehow finds a way to battle and keep fighting because he knows that is right. More and Paul both had a situation where they did not want to do what they did, but they knew in the bottom of there hear it was right. During the times of battle Paul was very courageous and brave. Sometimes his heart and his mind would not be one hundred percent confident but he was out there battling and fighting with all he had. During one specific battle he was being attacked and bombed in a cemetery and one of his fellow soldiers was hurt and needed assistance. Paul didn’t hesitate to throw him over his shoulder and find the nearest place to lie down and escape from the outside danger. This was ironic because hiding in a cemetery saved his life, which is where they have all people, which have passed away. Thomas More has the same kind of bravery and boldness, it was showed in a different way though. When More suspected things were going bad and he didn’t want to be involved in it he immediately resigned as Lord Chancellor. This showed how brave he was to step down from his position even though he knew that it was going to bring his living style down and affect his life in a major way. More and Pau l did not encounter the same problem but they both showed great courage and true colors by taking a chance which they did not know the result of. .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c , .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .postImageUrl , .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c , .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:hover , .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:visited , .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:active { border:0!important; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:active , .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u31e4a96e181ed9e346bda88eb90c169c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Martin Luther King Jr vs Malcolm X EssayThomas More was a man of class and dignity and he did not fold to the pressure he was under. The Roswell Incident Persuasive Essay Example For Students

The Roswell Incident Persuasive Essay The Roswell IncidentForty-seven years ago an incident occurred in the southwestern desert of theUnited States that could have significant implications for all mankind. Itinvolved the recovery by the U.S. Military of material alleged to be ofextraterrestrial origin. The event was announced by the Army Air Force on July 8,1947 through a press release carried by newspapers throughout the country. Itwas subsequently denied by what is now believed to be a cover story claiming thematerial was nothing more than a weather balloon. It has remained veiled ingovernment secrecy ever since. The press release announcing the unusual event was issued by the Commander ofthe 509th Bomb Group at Roswell Army Air Field, Colonel William Blanchard, wholater went on to become a four-star general and Vice Chief of Staff of theUnited States Air Force. That the weather balloon story was a cover-up has beenconfirmed by individuals directly involved, including the late General ThomasDuBose, who took the telephone call from Washington, D.C. ordering the cover-up. Numerous other credible military and civilian witnesses have testified that theoriginal press release was correct and that the Roswell wreckage was ofextraterrestrial origin. One such individual was Major Jesse Marcel, theIntelligence Officer of the 509th Bomb Group and one of the first militaryofficers at the scene. On January 12, 1994, United States Congressman Steven Schiff of Albuquerque, NewMexico, announced to the press that he had been stonewalled by the DefenseDepartment when requesting information on the 1947 Roswell event on behalf ofconstituents and witnesses. Indicating that he was seeking further investigationinto the matter, Congressman Schiff called the Defense Departments lack ofresponse astounding and concluded it was apparently another government cover-up.History has shown that unsubstantiated official assurances or denials bygovernment are often meaningless. Nevertheless, there is a logical andstraightforward way to ensure that the truth about Roswell will emerge: anExecutive Order declassifying any information regarding the existence of UFOs orextraterrestrial intelligence. Because this is a unique issue of universalconcern, such an action would be appropriate and warranted. To provide positiveassurance for all potential witnesses, it would need to be clearly stated andwritten into law. Such a measure is essentially what presidential candidateJimmy Carter promised and then failed to deliver to the American people eighteenyears ago in 1976. If, as is officially claimed, no information on Roswell, UFOs, orextraterrestrial intelligence is being withheld, an Executive Orderdeclassifying it would be a mere formality, as there would be nothing todisclose. The Order would, however, have the positive effect of setting therecord straight once and for all. Years of controversy and suspicion would beended, both in the eyes of the United States own citizens and in the eyes ofthe world. If, on the other hand, the Roswell witnesses are telling the truth andinformation on extraterrestrial intelligence does exist, it is not something towhich a privileged few in the United States Government should have exclusiverights. It is knowledge of profound importance to which all people throughoutthe world should have an inalienable right. Its release would unquestionably beuniversally acknowledged as an historic act of honesty and goodwill. I support the request, as outlined above, for an Executive Order declassifyingany U.S. Government information regarding the existence of UFOs orextraterrestrial intelligence. Whether such information exists or whether itdoes not, I feel that the people of the world have a right to know the truthabout this issue and that it is time to put an end to the controversysurrounding it. .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa , .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .postImageUrl , .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa , .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:hover , .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:visited , .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:active { border:0!important; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:active , .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u847a45d912f576ac9cae87032900e9fa:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep EssayTHE ROSWELL INCIDENT FILM -This film was taken by a high security government photographer, in the summer of1947, when the most thoroughly documented and witnessed crash of a flying sauceroccurred in a remote desert of New Mexico. (see the book, The Truth about theUFO Crash at Roswell, by Randle and Schmitt)After filming the amazing events, including the crash site and two autopsies, the cameraman turned over 300 minutes of 16mm black and white film to thePentagon. He still had 90 minutes of film left to develop at his private lab. Incredibly, the Pentagon never retrieved these remaining reels from him. Heended up taking them home with him in 1952, when he went on to civilian work. Hesecretly kept the film reels in his house, under his bed, for over forty years. The footage was sold by the cameraman (now 80 years old), last November, toLondon producer Ray Santilli, who
